Our Curriculum
The nursery curriculum is specially designed to develop confidence and independence through quality learning activities. We strongly believe that all children learn through valuable learning experiences and well planned play. We understand that play is something that a child best enjoys.
It has purpose and is a step towards the learning and understanding of valuable skills. Play can help a child fit into the world physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially and grow to be a healthy and competent individual
The government provide guidelines through the early years foundation stage (EYFS) and the nursery staff are familiar with this and have attended training on this subject to enable them to deliver this effectively to the children in our care.
The nursery staff endeavour to provide children with a stimulating environment where play and learning go hand in hand and work as a team to provide a wide range of experiences and well planned, play based activities both inside the nursery and in our well equipped garden as well as visits off site.
These learning experiences and activities promote progress towards the EYFS and therefore will enable a smooth transition to school.
The nursery staff plan activities and experiences around each child's interests and needs. We are continuously aware that all children are unique and our curriculum ensures that all children are encouraged to learn at their own pace.
Our excellent staff ratios enable us to work with each child to further develop their learning experiences.
Children also enjoy a music and movement session with a specialist teacher once a week. During these sessions children are encouraged to use their imagination and demonstrate their musical talents! The children particularly enjoy singing in the microphone or playing with the musical instruments.
The children's keyworkers regularly observe and assess the children's level of development and further learning experiences are planned from these.
These assessment forms are shared with parents at regular intervals either at one of our parents evenings or at a mutually agreed appointment between themselves and the child's parents/carers.
Playways day nursery is registered with Ealing council to offer the nursery education grant for all 3-5 year olds.
